How Much Do Weddings Cost?

Hello, our friendly flowers folks!  With Spring coming up we are heading into the wedding season!  Very often, I get brides in the shop who have no idea how much a wedding costs, either because they don't know how much flowers cost or how much florists charge for labor and such.  Here at Gladstone Flowers we try to work with every bride to make their dreams for their weddings come true.  

This week we have the honor of a guest blogger who is an expert on the subject.  Her name is Kelly Acock. She has been in the event and floral design arena for over 12 years as a published writer, educator, speaker, and designer.  Our shop actually attended a show that she was the speaker at just a couple of months ago, and we learned so much!  Kelly has taught many local classes and national webinars; featured in several local publications by Mary Carol Garity of Nell Hills, EA Bride Magazine, Florist Review, and the Kansas City Star.  

She has notably been published internationally for her floral art creations in the latest publications of International Floral Art by Stitchting Kunstboek.  

Kelly is also the creator of reEVENT ~ the ecoCHIC movement for reUSE, rePURPOSE, and reDESIGNing Special Events.  We are so grateful to have her as a guest blogger on our site.

Valentine's Day

Well, it's that time of year again.  Love is in the air and the smell of flowers fill almost every office space you can think that you enter.  Teenagers are passing cutely folded notes in the hallway, and adults are planning romantic evenings for their significant others.  That's right, folks, it's VALENTINES DAY SEASON!!!

That means that preparation at the shop has been going on for the last 2-3 weeks and will continue until the 18th or 19th, for all those poor guys that forgot....that's right, into the dog house with thee!!

This year has been exceptionally fun to plan for valentines day because I got to help with the ordering of flowers, glass, and general supplies.  It's a whole other world that just the design aspect.  Lots of numbers to crunch, decisions to make, but it's all coming together very, very nicely.

Mostly, there are lots and lots of red roses, stargazer lilies, and other mixed flowers.  The difference between our flower shop and the "other guy" is that ours are beautifully designed to fit your individual style and tastes.  Let us know what you'd like changed in anything we do and we'll walk you through the price changes that come with it.
